  • Development of analytical methodology for the determination of phenols and other organohalogenated compounds in environmental materials (waters, soil, etc.)
  • Development of analytical methodology for volatile compounds and flavors in food and environmental samples
  • Sample processing techniques in environmental analytical research (SFE, MAE, SPME, SPE, SPMD, LPME,..). Screening techniques.
  • Development of simulation and computer assisted development applications in chromatography (software developpment and implementation)
  • Multivariate analysis, pattern recognition and chemometric classification of materials using analytical information. Experimental design and process optimization. Genetic algorithms and applications of AI in analytical chemistry.
  • Speciation studies. Organometals determination in environmental matrices (organomercurials and organotin compounds)
  • Determination of pharmaceutical residue and personal care products (PPCPs), estrogens and emerging pollutants in the environment and matrices related with food safety.
  • Determination of persistent halogenated and organic compounds (POPs) in environmental and food ralated materials (PCBs, dioxins, brominated and other flame retardants,....)
  • New strategies in environmental sampling. Strategic sample Composition (SSC), development of management systems and resolution of composite samples using chemometric approaches.
  • Application of photochemical strategies in Analytical Chemistry (Photoderivatization and Photo-SPME).
Technology services
  • Development and continuous formation in chromatographic techniques and chemometrics. Training and use of proprietary software.
  • Screening procedures. Experimental design and optimization of laboratory processes
  • Analytical services (phenols,pesticides, POPs, PAHs, dioxins, emerging pollutants, flavor and volatile compounds), metal traces and organometals speciation, in materials of environmental and food safety interest, with special emphasis in sample preparation
  • Gas chromatography (including GC-MS, GC-AED, GC-MS-MS, GC-ECD, etc.), liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, electronic noses, ICP-MS.
